Who Is KILLING Your Business?

There is an Internet age epidemic in network marketing…

Previously successful uplines are recommending marketing methods to their downline that they have not personally used or tested for effectiveness.   The end result has trusting marketers investing into marketing blindly without the promised results.

The loss of money due to misguided marketing efforts is at alarming new levels.

Making matters worse, uplines are unable to properly coach their organizations of the complexities of the marketing methods they recommend because they didn’t use them to build their own businesses.

Here’s a real life example of to prove my point…

A top ranking marketer of a major billion dollar network marketing company recently started recommending a particular marketing system to his downline.  Because of his position, having multiple top earners in his group, he had an instant audience of people eager to learn from him.

The story he told about his new system seemed nothing short of revolutionary.   The proclaimed results were extraordinary and the cost to learn about it was so ridiculously low that few people considered buying his new book a risk at all.

But they didn’t have the whole story.

When the marketer was asked if this revolutionary system was working for him he replied with an emphatic yes. A little put off by the question he assured that of course it was working. He went on the say he had in fact brought in 8 people into his business as a result of this system.

That’s where most people would stop questioning.

Inquiring deeper into these 8 people he had sponsored, it turned out that these 8 people were already in his organization.

So the real story goes more like this: A successful network marketers convinces 8 people in his downline to use a new marketing system and then uses that as proof that the system is tested and works as advertised to recruit new prospects into the organization.

Now, I’m not one to jump onto the bandwagon of claiming that uplines or companies are knowingly lying to you (see my video on this topic). I have yet to see the logic in why any upline would follow such a tactic. The lies may not be on purpose, though they are every bit as harmful to your success.

So why do they do it?

Imagine waking up one morning and you no longer understand what makes network marketing tick?

Your cold market strategies of placing ads in Network Marketing Business Journal (Money Makers Monthly), Home Business Magazine, and Newspapers fails to deliver the results you were accustomed to just 10 years ago. Even Internet age strategies like mass e-mail and safe-lists that created multi-million dollar businesses in 2001 barely deliver anything worth measuring.

Faced with downline looking to you for guidance, what would you do?

Marketers who rest on their previous success are doomed to fail.

This is one reason Leaders Club trainers must be active marketers in order to remain on our roster. It’s another reason we don’t share training based on opinion or the latest fads. Too many people talk in length in forums and blogs about building a network marketing business. They join success system after success system yet have nothing substantial to show for it.

In order to have true success you must move forward based on facts not opinion.

    So many methods to build a business out there, most have no statistics to back up
    what they are saying.

    I personally seek the truth, it will save time, money and frustration in the long run!

      What those statistics really are.

      Out of all the free leads generated how many actually convert into paying customers?

    The teaching here is to always dig before buying we are the only ones responsible about the results of our business.
    So often overwhelmed by info that promises gold to us easily it is easy to fall in the trap we all want short cuts to success but of course they never work.
    It is not only about the results but who we become in our journey to success, as Kavafis the famous Greek poet says in his poem speaking about Ithaki ( the value of the journey and who we become, in his poem Ithaki is the island of his destination).

    There are many very well meaning and honest leaders out there, but I do see you points that some are not above board in their ways.
    It puts more responsibility on each of us to check out the “leaders” and their products before we buy.
    I’ve found for me that when I first started out I was constantly being sucked into the newest information product, thinking it would help me get started better than the others I had bought. Trouble was, I wasn’t getting started.
    Now I work my business first and review “new” products later. I try to do the productive activities that will lead to business success, rather than constantly being distracted by the new products.
    And when I do look at the products, I try to be selective in chosing the best ones.
    It’s a balancing act, like so much in life.

  6. It all about checking is there is substance behind what people are saying – have they trodden the path and made things work, so we can learn from them for real or is it simply a smokescreen. Also, that these leaders are continually learning too and not relying on old methods that simply don’t work as they used to. Inspirational and authenticity is what we need!

  7. I find that it is common practice for “gurus” to polish their story to make it sound as if they were an overnight success by discovering “the secrets”. The truth is that there are marketing principles that lead to success. Whether you can learn them quickly or over an extended period of time, if you follow those principles…you will succeed.

    This has been a topic I’ve run across at least five times this week already and it’s only three days in. I know this is on a lot of people’s minds because there is so much horrible marketing going on today.

    Hype, lies and dishonesty everywhere you turn because people want that sale and they want it now. They want you to join their business based on your great results because if you share the truth that it took you years most people aren’t willing to wait that long. They’ll go with the liars any day of the week and then that’s why so many people complain because of the deceit.

    I’m glad that you stand behind Leaders Club Shelly because I was with them several years back but just found their site was too confusing when trying to find the information I needed. I’m that way though, it has to be really easy for me or I’m just lost.
