Fire, Ready, Aim…Don’t Rush Into A Home Based Business

You might be wondering about the title: Fire, Ready, Aim

And thinking, “That’s backwards!  It’s supposed to be Ready, Aim, Fire?”

Well you’re right but not today because I have a story to tell you…

Back in 2002, when I got into the home business industry I wasn’t looking for it.  One day I was looking through the classifieds and found an ad that read like this:

Moms Helping Moms Work From Home.

I answered that ad and before I knew it I was in.  I had a home based business.

So what’s my point?

My point is this, hindsight is always 20/20.

So my hope is that if you are looking for a home based business, you are reading this because if you are OPEN, my lack of vision will help you see before you waste your time, energy and money on a home business that isn’t right for you.

Because that’s what I did, I let the business choose me, instead of choosing the business.  What I mean by that is, people coming into the home business industry are typically looking for a way to make some quick money because they’ve either gotten themselves into a financial bind, they realize they have nothing for retirement, they just got laid off from their job or maybe they were like me.

A stay home mom who didn’t completely understand what she was getting herself into because it sounded so easy.  Which it’s okay now because I believe I would have eventually gravitated towards the industry anyway but that’s a whole other story itself.

So here’s the deal, if you are looking for a home based business, or a way to earn extra income from home, don’t get caught up in the glitz and glamour of GET RICH QUICK.  There is NO such thing although human laziness wishes desparately for it!

Do not get caught in that.  NO!  Slow down, use your mind as you’re looking and

Is there a NEED for the product or service I want to represent?

Let me give you an example of what I am talking about…

Can YOU sell ice to eskimos?  Probably not…

But can YOU sell a furry, warm parka jacket to eskimos?  Probably!

See what I’m saying?

You need to do a little research first.  Figure out is there a REAL need?

And if so…

Research the company, talk to people and if you feel good about it…

Ready, Aim, Fire!

    Simple formula for success…

    Find a problem/need
Locate or develop the solution (this is where research happens)
Bring the solution to those who need it

    Good advice, Shelly
